What happens when you blend generational Indigenous wisdom with modern entrepreneurship?

In October 2024, something extraordinary unfolded across Gulkula, Buymarr, and Yirrkala in East Arnhem Land. Co-hosted by respected leaders Rärriwuy Hick and Sylvia Nulpinditj, Gathanmi - a groundbreaking three-day gathering - brought together 28 Indigenous entrepreneurs for a transformative journey where cultural traditions met business innovation. Discover how this powerful coming together sparked new possibilities in the inspiring video below.

“Having her own business made me realise that she proves herself to older business. Gave me an understanding of how to run a business and now I know about what being a sole trader is and how to do it. This training was very amazing and gave us understanding. We can share this with our family and friends and we can become teachers in our own community. I've been talking with my brother about starting a business but I didn't know what to do. Now I know step by step. I can see what to do about it.”

Enterprise Learning Projects acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the unceded lands on which we live and work. We celebrate their enduring connection to land, sea, culture and community and pay our deep respects to Elders past, present and emerging. The Larrakia people are the original custodians of Gulumirrgin, where ELP's head office is based. We are grateful for their continued generosity in sharing their Country.

ELP also recognises that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been founding and running community-driven enterprises for millennia. We are privileged to be continually welcomed on-Country to learn and share together.
